Are there any successful companies based on the business model
planned for the Packard® Motor Car Company? Yes, TVR Engineering and
Morgan Motor Company are both successful
independent automobile companies. Theses two
companies manufacture a limited number of
automobiles per year and generally have waiting
lists for their automobiles.
Aston
Martin is another successful small volume
automobile company, but different from TVR and
Morgan in that they are owned by Ford. Aston
Martin recently introduced the DB7. Aston Martin,
in their brochure on the new DB7, wrote that the
prototype "
was all funded on faith
and petty cash
" and that the company
raised $1,800,000 to complete the prototype work.
